Polls Close at 5pm

The Elections Commission has extended polling from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. due to extreme heat and long queues. Voters who were in line before closing time were allowed to cast their ballots.

Polling began at 8:00 a.m., with strong turnout recorded throughout the day. EC has said around 63 per cent of eligible voters had voted by 4:00 p.m.

A total of 294,876 people were eligible to vote in the elections.
