The Ministry of Housing has decided to open a separate application process for persons with disabilities under the government’s housing scheme starting April.
Applications under the dedicated category will now open at 11:00am on April 1, after a slight delay from the previously scheduled date.
The category is part of the government’s family housing policy, giving priority to persons with disabilities.
Under revised regulations, eligibility requirements have also been eased. While the general rule requires 15 years of continuous residence in the Malé area, persons with disabilities can now apply with just five years of residency.
Those who have moved to Malé or frequently travel to access disability related services are also eligible to apply.
