Maldives Transport and Contracting Company has announced that 65% of the harbour development project in Maafushi has been completed.

According to MTCC, revetment construction and sand works for breakwater installations are currently underway.

Works under the project include:
• 448m rock revetment for coastal protection
• 700m geobag revetment
• 655m quay wall installation
• Land reclamation of 96,961 cubic metres
• Harbour paving covering 1,765 square metres

The project was awarded to MTCC for MVR 82.5 million with a 600-day completion period. The project also includes harbour dredging of 28,836 cubic metres and an additional 63,711 cubic metres of dredging work.
