Maldives Transport and Contracting Company has secured the second phase of the land reclamation and shore protection project in Madaveli.
The agreement was signed with the Ministry of Housing Construction and Infrastructure Maldives.
Ahmed Saudee, Managing Director of MTCC, signed on behalf of the company, while Housing Minister Abdulla Muththalib signed for the government.
The project will reclaim 19.17 hectares of land and strengthen shore protection. Work is scheduled for completion within 400 days.
The first phase of the project reclaimed 8.85 hectares, with the total planned reclamation reaching 35 hectares.
Minister Abdulla Muththalib said the project will help address land scarcity in Madaveli, in line with a pledge by President Mohamed Muizzu.
