A 16-year-old boy has died after a speeding motorcycle lost control on Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Malé late last night.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the crash was reported at 1:39 a.m. The motorcycle was driven by a 19-year-old man, with the teenager riding as a passenger.
Police said the 16-year-old died while receiving treatment for his injuries. Authorities also confirmed that the rider did not hold a valid driving licence.
Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
