President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has broken ground on Project Ayla, the Maldives’ first sustainable township in Noonu Atoll.
The USD 790 million project, now a Special Economic Zone, will feature luxury homes, a resort, a school, and a healthcare facility, running on over 60% renewable energy.
CEO Petar Krstic praised Muizzu’s vision, while Minister Mohamed Saeed said Ayla will make the Maldives a place to live and invest.
The township is set to be completed in 2028, marking a new era of sustainable development.
