Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has completed reclamation of 71 hectares at the Rasmale’ land reclamation project.
The total project will reclaim 1,009 hectares, with the completed area representing 51.64% of the total. Reclamation is being carried out using Cristobal Cologne, the world’s largest trailer suction hopper dredger, with a capacity of 46,000 cubic meters.
MACL began reclamation at Rasmale’ Site A on December 1, 2025. The land will be used for housing, industrial, and marina purposes. President Waheed has said 15,000 people will be selected for the land once reclamation is complete.
