Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has invited Expressions of Interest for Phase 1 of the Local Harbour Relief Project at K. Thilafushi, aimed at easing congestion at Malé Commercial Harbour.
The project will deliver new quay infrastructure to improve domestic and international vessel operations. Phase 1 will be carried out under a single EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract.
The scope includes the design and construction of a 100-metre deep-water international quay and the detailed design of a 650-metre domestic quay, along with channel design and site levelling works. MPL said the project will support larger vessels and strengthen maritime logistics.
EOIs are open to qualified local and international contractors, including joint ventures. MPL will assess experience, financial capacity, and technical capability, with priority given to firms that have completed deep-water quay projects in the past 10 years.
Interested parties must submit EOIs electronically by 2:00pm on 6 January 2026. MPL will shortlist eligible applicants for the next Request for Proposal stage under a FIDIC-based EPC contract.
