The National Meteorological Centre (MET) has issued a White Alert for central atolls, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds tonight.
The alert covers atolls from Alif Alif (AA) to Thaa (Th.) and is in effect from 18:00 to 22:30 today. MET forecasts heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and winds up to 40 mph during squalls.
Seas around the central atolls are expected to be rough for the next 24 hours, with waves rising further during gusts. Northern and southern atolls will see moderately rough seas, also intensifying in squally conditions.
MET advises all sea travelers to exercise extreme caution during this period.
