SriLankan Airlines has officially started operating from the new Passenger Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport.
MACL held a special ceremony at Terminal 1 to mark the launch. Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Maldives Mohamed Rizvi Hassan attended the event, along with SriLankan Airlines Country Manager Naomi Tenakoon and senior MACL officials.
The airline opened its check-in counters at the terminal during the ceremony. Gifts were presented to all 115 departing passengers.
The first flight to Terminal 1, UL101, received a warm welcome with traditional cultural performances.
SriLankan Airlines is the second Sri Lankan carrier and the 33rd airline to begin operations from Terminal 1.
