President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that expatriates found on the streets at night will be stopped and questioned by authorities.
The President stated that the decision was taken after concerns that some expatriates were acting in ways that disrupt public order during late hours.
He said the Maldives Police Service and other relevant authorities have been instructed to take legal action against expatriates found stranded in public places and on the streets between 12:00 am and 6:00 am.
Dr. Muizzu has also mentioned the measure aims to protect public interest and maintain safety during the night.
