President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said authorities have shut down 52 massage parlours in Malé City as part of intensified enforcement efforts.
The President made the remarks while addressing residents of Galolhu last night. He stated the spread of massage parlours is one of the biggest social issues facing Malé City.
Dr. Muizzu said enforcement efforts were stepped up from the 9th of this month. Since then, authorities have searched and closed 24 locations through direct operations. Another 28 were shut down through ongoing actions by police and immigration authorities.
The President said the response to public concerns has been swift and effective. He added that the government will continue operations to arrest and deport undocumented expatriates.
