The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast continued heavy rain and thunderstorms across the country over the next 24 hours.

According to the latest advisory, showers and thunderstorms are expected at intervals, with winds ranging from 10–20 mph in the central and northern atolls and 5–15 mph in the south.

Seas are expected to remain moderately rough in northern and central regions, while southern waters may also turn rough. The Met Office said the most intense rainfall and thunderstorms will continue to affect central and northern islands.

Weather conditions are expected to improve tomorrow. However, after three days of calmer skies, heavy rain is forecast to return to central and northern atolls on Sunday.
