President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says the government will select the 15,000 beneficiaries of the Greater Malé Project before the ongoing land reclamation is completed.
President Muizzu announced that the government will finalise 15,000 land plot recipients before the Greater Malé Project’s reclamation is completed. He made the remarks at his administration’s second-anniversary event.
Reclamation is progressing quickly and will finish in five months. Work resumed on Monday. The criteria for applicants will be announced next week, and both Malé residents and Malé-registered citizens can apply.
CMC is reclaiming 63 hectares with support from a 22,000 CBM Boskalis dredger. So far, 24 hectares are complete. The reclaimed area will include housing, industrial zones, and a marina.
Muizzu added that another dredger will arrive on 23 November to speed up other reclamation projects, including Giraavaru lagoon.
