The government plans to replace several old mosques in Malé with larger, modern mosques, says Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

According to the minister, ‘Barubaree Mosque’ will reopen in December, and ‘Zikuree Mosque’ construction will start in January. Vilimalé ‘Salam Mosque’ will be demolished and replaced with a bigger mosque, starting in December. ‘Boduge Mosque’ foundation work begins Thursday.

The minister said all projects will be completed within two years. Funds have been secured for each mosque. The initiative aims to provide bigger and better facilities for worshippers across the city.
