The Maldives has been named the Best Beach Destination at the World Tourism Awards 2025, recognising its pristine beaches and rich marine life.
The award was announced yesterday in Brussels, Belgium, during the Global Tourism Forum Annual Meeting 2025. The event, themed “Redefining Tourism in a Changing World,” brought together global tourism leaders, policymakers, and experts.
Former President and Special Envoy of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan, accepted the award on behalf of the Maldives and conveyed the President’s gratitude for the honour.
The recognition celebrates the Maldives’ crystal clear waters, white-sand beaches, and efforts to protect its coastal ecosystems.
The win reinforces the Maldives’ standing as one of the world’s leading travel destinations and highlights its continued commitment to sustainability and innovation in tourism.
