Guraidhoo Chief Magistrate Suspended for Code Violation

The JSC made the decision at its 37th session held on October 22, 2025. The Commission stated that the suspension follows an investigation into a complaint submitted against Fathullah. According to the JSC, the investigation found that he acted in breach of the judicial code of conduct. As a result, the Commission decided to suspend him from his duties for one month, starting October 22, without salary or benefits. This is not the first case involving the magistrate. In 2023, the JSC reviewed a disciplinary complaint against Fathullah for allegedly violating the Criminal Procedure Act. However, the Commission decided not to pursue that case at the time.
