Maldivian activists has joined the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set sail from Tunisia to deliver aid to Gaza.

Ibrahim Shaaz, Secretary General of the International Aid Campaign, is among the international activists on board. The flotilla carries humanitarian supplies and aims to break the blockade on Gaza.

The mission departed from Gammarth Port in Tunisia earlier this week. Activists and Journalists face the risk of interception by Israeli forces as the flotilla sails toward Palestinian waters.

According to Shaaz, the Maldives’ participation reflects a commitment to delivering aid with dignity and integrity.

The Maldives also joined 29 other nations in issuing a joint statement calling for the safety of flotilla participants. The statement urged respect for international law and safe passage for the aid mission.

Public interest in the Maldives remains high, with many closely following updates from the journey.
