President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that China is a key partner of the Maldives, highlighting its support for small island states on sustainability, resilience, and equality.

He made the remarks at a reception in Malé marking the 79th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

At the ceremony, the President extended his best wishes and congratulations to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the government, and the people of China on the occasion of their National Day.

He also highlighted the enduring relationship between the Maldives and China, noting that its strength lies not only in formal agreements but also in shared experiences, mutual travel, and the trust built over time.

The two nations’ friendship, he said, is evident across the Maldives, in bridges, housing, classrooms and so on. He also highlighted the thousands of Chinese tourists who visit the Maldives each year.
The President reaffirmed Maldives’ commitment to deepening its partnership with China across politics, trade, culture and education.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, cabinet ministers, and many other dignitaries also attended today’s event.
