V. Keyodhoo Council has requested to acquire the lagoon near the island for economic growth.
The request was made during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s meeting with the Women’s Development Committee and senior officials on the island. The discussions focused on pressing issues faced by citizens.
The council stressed the urgent need for land reclamation to tackle land shortages. They also highlighted difficulties in hiring staff for the island’s health center.
Council members said the lagoon could play a vital role in boosting the island’s economy. They also requested a dollar ATM, citing the rise of local tourism in Keyodhoo.
