
Six Maldivian powerlifters representing Powerlifting Raajje at the Thai Amateur Association of Powerlifting’s National Qualifier 2 in Thailand delivered an outstanding performance, bringing home four gold medals and two silvers.
The competition brought together top athletes from the region, with the Maldivian lifters showcasing strong performances across multiple weight classes.
Maryam Afza Hassan, competing in the Women’s 47kg Open category put up a 75kg squat, 40kg bench press and a 122.5kg deadlift to win 1st Place in her category with a 237.5kg Total
Dheena Aboobakur secured 2nd Place in the Women’s 63kg Open category with a 110kg squat, 55kg bench press and a 127.5kg deadlift for a 292.5kg total.
Adam Mibsaam Saleem placed 1st in the Men’s 66kg Junior category with a 202.5kg squat, 115kg bench press, and a 260.5kg deadlift, setting a new Junior Thai 66KG national record in the deadlift. His 578kg total secured 1st place in his class and 2nd Best Male Lifter overall.
Rixz Adil Jaleel competed in the Men’s 59kg Open category with a 135kg squat, 87.5kg bench press, and a 165kg deadlift. His total of 387.5kg earned him 1st place in his category.
Ibrahim Thoaif Ahmed finished 1st in the Men’s 66kg Open with a 127.5kg squat, 75kg bench press, and 195kg deadlift for a 397.5kg total.
Imkan Ibrahim competed in the Men’s 74kg Open category with a successful 200kg squat, 135kg bench press, and 225kg deadlift. His 560kg total earned him 2nd place in the division.
Collectively, the Maldivian athletes earned four gold medals and two silver medals, an incredible showing on the international stage for the Maldives in powerlifting.
Maldivian athletes have previously participated in international meets with several athletes securing competitive finishes in the past.
As Maldivian powerlifting celebrates a growing tally of achievements on the international stage, athletes will also look to compete locally with the Weightlifting Association of Maldives set to host a powerlifting meet towards the end of September 2025.
