Malé, 07 August 2025 – Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) recorded steady growth in cargo activity during July, marking a 6% rise in cleared containers compared to June.
The port processed 6,320 TEUs last month, up from 5,940 TEUs in June. This included 2,380 twenty-foot containers and 1,970 forty-foot containers, underscoring sustained demand for both general cargo and perishable goods.
Operational efficiency at MPL has continued to improve, with faster clearance times than the previous year. The company has been rolling out measures to streamline handling processes, ensuring goods are transferred from port to market more swiftly.
With container throughput on an upward trend and operational upgrades underway, MPL remains committed to supporting the Maldives’ supply chain — from international arrivals to the distribution of essential goods across the nation.
