The government has spent MVR 1.7 billion to support Maldivian students studying abroad.
Under the scholarship program, 602 students including 388 girls received MVR 471 million. 1,740 students (1,072 girls) benefited from MVR 1.25 billion in student loans.
In total, 2,342 students have gone abroad under these schemes, most of them female.
The government also invested MVR 301.67 million in the Free Degree Scheme, supporting 8,680 students (5,486 girls). These efforts expand opportunities for Maldivians to study higher education abroad.
