Robbers has stolen around €30 million in cash and valuables from a Gelsenkirchen bank vault.
Police said the thieves broke into 3,200 safe deposit boxes, affecting more than 2,500 customers. Authorities described the operation as “highly professional,” requiring careful planning and prior knowledge.
Witnesses reported seeing several masked men carrying large bags in a parking garage on Saturday night. Video footage showed them leaving early Monday in a black car with a stolen license plate from Hanover. The thieves used a drill to break through a wall from an archive room into the vault.
On Tuesday, angry customers gathered outside the bank in the Buer district. About 200 people chanted, “We want in!” Some breached security and entered the lobby before police restored order.
