A nationwide telethon has began Sunday to raise funds for Sri Lanka as the country battles deadly flooding from Cyclone Ditwa.
The broadcast will run from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., with 37 media outlets joining the effort. The drive invites donations from the public, groups, clubs, and government offices.
Sri Lanka faces severe flooding after days of heavy rain. The death toll has topped 159, and more than 200 people are missing.
PSM organised the telethon as an urgent response. The broadcaster highlighted the close ties between the two countries. Donation details are being aired throughout the program.
Crowe Maldives is auditing the drive to ensure transparency. The firm says all funds will reach those affected. It has worked on previous telethons and continues to support the process as part of its CSR work.
