The Maldives welcomed its 2 millionth tourist of the year, reaching the milestone earlier than last year.
Officials greeted the visitor at Velana International Airport. MACL, Visit Maldives, and the Tourism Ministry took part in the welcome.
The 2 millionth tourist is Bethany Serra from the UK. She arrived with her husband for their honeymoon. It is their first trip to the Maldives.
The country first reached 2 million arrivals last year on December 26. This year, it hit the mark even faster.
China leads all source markets. More than 300,000 Chinese tourists have visited so far. Daily arrivals now exceed 6,000.
