343 young Maldivians have departed for training under the government’s National Service Program, launched to build a strong, disciplined generation.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu welcomed the participants in a post on X. He said they were chosen from 1,242 applicants in the first round. The batch includes 64 females and 279 males, aged 16–29, from 107 islands.

According to the President, the program seeks to :

  • Revive nationalism and pride among youth while strengthening Islamic values.
  • Prepare citizens to serve during national threats and disasters.

  • Train and channel youth into MNDF and Maldives Police Service roles.

  • Foster unity, respect, good morals, and patience in speech and action.

  • Equip youth with life skills to become responsible and productive citizens.

  • Develop spiritually, mentally, and physically healthy young people.

The government plans to create 5,000 military-related jobs through the program.
