Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has begun work to assess the condition of domestic airports and strengthen their operations.

MACL stated today that under this initiative led by the company’s Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, senior officials and technical teams from the company will visit the nine domestic airports recently taken over by MACL to assess their condition and identify areas for improvement.

As part of this effort, senior officials and technical teams from the company visited Fuvahmulah Airport last week to assess its condition and meet with staff.

The government decided to merge Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL), which had been operating domestic airports, with MACL last month as a measure to reduce cost. Consequently, MACL took over the operations of nine airports previously managed by RACL during the past month.

In addition to transferring the airports operated under RACL to MACL, all staff from these airports have also been transferred to the company.
