President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Azerbaijani President Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev held talks on expanding bilateral cooperation between the Maldives and Azerbaijan.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, held at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention Centre in China.
During the meeting, both leaders acknowledged the enduring friendship and strong ties between their nations. President Muizzu expressed his sincere appreciation to President Aliyev for the warm hospitality extended during his recent visit to attend the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29).
Their discussions focused on identifying new areas for collaboration, with emphasis on strengthening people-to-people ties, increasing economic cooperation, and enhancing trade and investment opportunities.
The meeting concluded with both presidents reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening Maldives–Azerbaijan relations through continued partnership in mutually beneficial sectors.
