The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will take over the operation of vessels previously managed by Agro National Corporation (AgroNAT), according to a recent announcement by government officials.
The decision comes as part of a broader restructuring aimed at improving efficiency in the transportation of agricultural produce and goods across the Maldives. MTCC, with its established maritime operations, is expected to streamline logistics and enhance service delivery through better vessel management and scheduling.
AgroNAT’s vessels have primarily been used to transport produce from islands to markets, particularly supporting local farmers and food security initiatives. Under MTCC’s operation, the vessels are expected to maintain this focus while improving reliability and operational oversight.
The transition is currently underway, with full integration expected in the coming weeks.
