VIA serves over 4 million passengers in first half of the year

Maldives’ main international airport, Velana International Airport (VIA), served over four million passengers in the first six months of the year.

VIA published the details of passenger and air traffic movements for the first half of this year on Saturday night.

According to VIA, the airport has served a total of 4,108,845 passengers during the first half of this year, marking a four percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Notably, the new international terminal developed at VIA was inaugurated last month. The new terminal, which can accommodate 7.5 million passengers annually, took some nine years to build and cost around MVR 7 billion.
