The Maldives has pledged USD 50,000 to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to support humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people.
The announcement was made during the UNRWA Pledging Conference, where the Maldives’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting the agency.
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Ali Naseer said the contribution was not merely a financial donation but a commitment to protecting human dignity and upholding the international rules-based order. He also condemned efforts to undermine UNRWA’s work and called on the international community to provide the agency with the financial support needed to continue its operations.
He reiterated that the Maldivian people will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Maldives had also contributed USD 50,000 to UNRWA in 2024, reflecting its continued support for the Palestinian cause.
